The Police Academy in Apeldoorn had the need to raise awareness among police professionals about the impact of their behavior on climate change.

Me and my project partner dived into this current topic and engaged in conversations with diverse police professionals. Out of this researsch we discovered the core values that would guide our design: accessibility, personal relatability, positivity, humor and the space needs to activate one's own imagination.

The result? The KLIMAAT-TRIP (Climate-trip) – a 4D-experience in a police car. While listening to the recorded audio and watching an animation video, this experience will take you on an investigation into a drug dumping case. All your senses get stimulated, you will experience unhealthy air, you will feel temperature difference and other effects to strengthen the message. During the ride, you encounter dry landscapes, lifeless fish and birds falling from the sky. It’s a surprising experience that makes you aware of the fact that not only drug waste harms the environment, but climate change can also have such devastating consequences.

This project invites everyone to contribute to a more sustainable society by reflecting on personal, work-related and policy decisions that impact climate change. Together, we make a difference and contribute to a world where responsibility is taken for people, society, and nature.
